Corona invitational football tournament Top teams receive trophies and Cash prizes

Police Football Club collected their prize money and trophies last evening for winning the inaugural Corona Invitational Football tournament following a 4-0 thrashing of GFC earlier in the month.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony at the Brandsville Hotel, Troy Mendonca, Co-director of the tournament organisers Petra, was happy with the overall success of the tournament that was held for teams in Georgetown. β€œWe (Petra) want to congratulate all 12 teams. Pleased of the team turnout and discipline as they were ready to start at 17:00hrs time each evening. We’re very pleased to see the formed associations with the GFC, GFF, Guyana referees Council and the media continue to blossom”, Mendonca stated.
Promotion coordinator of Top Brandz, Gabriella Chapman, whose company sponsored through their Corona Brand, related that her company is, β€œVery much proud to have been awarded the opportunity to be part of the tournament and congratulations to the 12 teams that participated, and an even bigger congratulation to police who won. Corona is committed to the development of football in Guyana and will be looking forward for opportunities to support football in the future.”
Apart from winners Police pocketing the $1million first prize, losing finalists GFC pursed four hundred thousand dollars, while third place finishers Western Tigers received $200,000 and Northern Rangers carried home $100,000.
Darius Frank of Police FC was adjudged the best keeper, while the highest Goal Scorer was Andrew Murray with 12 goals and MVP Dwain Jacobs received trophies for their top performances.
