We have noted that Commissioner General of the Guyana Revenue Authority, Godfrey Statia, in his long missive to the press, failed to respond to the following:
1. How did the two Toyota Landcruisers in question end up in the hands of PNC official and former Mayor, Carlton Beckles? What process was used for the disposal of the two vehicles? Did the process involve public tendering? What price was paid?
2. If he has nothing to hide then why not invite the Auditor General to probe how the luxury vehicles were disposed of by the GRA. What process was involved? Were they put up for public tender? If so, at what prices were they sold and to whom.
3. How did 5000 bottles of seized high-end liquor, worth over $25M, end up in the hands of the APNU?
We urge that the following issues be addressed as there are more revelations to come.
