Guyana’s leading Crossfit athlete who has also excelled at the regional level, Dillon Mahadeo will be leading a strong 10-member team including two females to this year’s 2nd annual Crossfit 12-12-12 Throwdown set for this Saturday at the Woodbrook Youth Facility, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. At last year’s Throwdown, Guyana fielded 8 athletes of which Mahadeo took the bronze medal in the RX (Open) Men’s category with Angelina DeAbreu taking gold in the Women’s Scaled (Novice) category. This year’s contingent is Mahadeo, Christian McRae, Ian Rogers, Timothy Mc Andrew, Jamie McDonald, King Solomon, Stephen Fraser, Paul Muesa and the two females, Semonica Duke and Christina Rahman. A total of 94 athletes will be seeking to outdo each other from countries including St. Lucia, St Marten, Barbados, Suriname, U.S.A and the host nation. The majority of team members will be leaving Guyana tomorrow with the others getting into the T&T on Friday. Corporate support for the athletes would have been garnered from Ansa McAl, Fitness Express, King Solomon Shipping, N & K Investments, Genesis Fitness and Caribbean Airlines. (Franklin Wilson)
