D’ Edward Sports Club of West Bank Berbice defeated hosts Everest Cricket Club in a T20 fixture played on Tuesday.
D’ Edward SC batted first and scored 114-8. The visitors were off to slow start due to some steady bowling by the host, but managed to rotate the strike well in the latter stages. Abdool Subhan led with 33, while Lakeraj Sookra made 23 and Devendra Narine 16. Leg spinner Amir Khan snared 3-13, teenage left arm spinner Raynaldo Mohamed 2-13 and Dwayne Adams 2-21.
Everest, fielding a youthful line up, lost Saheed Mohamed, Adams and Khan cheaply before Khemraj Ramdeen and Rishi Hiralall gave them hope with sensible batting in the middle.
Ramdeen timed the ball well, but when he was dismissed for a run-a-ball 37 and Hiralall followed for 20, D’ Edward fought back well to contain the remaining batmen. Riyad Sattaur contributed 12 as Everest were bowled out for 92 in 19.4 overs.
Rendell Bobb picked up two wickets, while there was one each for Kevon Jawahir, Parmanand Ramdhan, Subhan, Sookra and Keith Fraser. (Zaheer Mohamed)
