What's that?
Damus petimusque vicissim was the motto of British Guiana before Independence Day 1966. It is a Latin phrase which translates into English as We give and take in return.
As you know, our current motto is: One People, One Nation, One Destiny.
But, with the prevalence of corruption these days, it seems as if the ruling class in Guyana and their fat-cat enablers have adopted the old colonial motto:
DAMUS PETIMUSQUE VICISSIM/WE GIVE AND TAKE IN RETURN
