Darshanie “Anjalie” Jadubir with her parents Basmat Jainarine and Narine Jadubir

– taken to school on motorcycle by father for past 13 years

JC Chandisingh Secondary School student Darshanie “Anjalie” Jadubir has secured 16 Grade Ones and one Grade Two at this year’s Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) and has emerged as Region Six top student.

Her outstanding achievement has also placed her 11th in the country.

The quiet and content young lady was ecstatic at the news of her achievement which was relayed to her by a friend who called her around noon on Friday.

Jadubir, who credited her success to God, her parents and teachers for their support and encouragement, said her hard work and sacrifices over the past five years have paid off.

According to the young lady, she is averaged at pretty much everything she does, and as such, she challenged herself to write 16 subjects and to do well.

“I had to change my mindset and try to not let other stuff happening around you affect you because as a teen, lots of things are happening but you have to be stable,” she said.

Jadubir urges her peers to work hard but find a balance with academics and leisure time.
“You need to work hard but you also need to find time for yourself to
take care of your mental health because it’s important. You don’t need
to overwork yourself, just give it your best shot and success will be
yours…. I didn’t know I was going to do that well. I was anticipating
something much lower, but I am very happy I worked hard and studied
beyond hours and I am glad that I was able to reap the benefits,” the young lady said.

Her Parents, however, knew that their daughter would have done well, since she had topped her school at the National Grade Six Examinations in 2013 and was a top student throughout her years at secondary school.

Jadubir’s mother–Basmat Jainarine, a housewife, and father Narine
Jadubir, a cash crop farmer–were emotional as they were told their
“little girl” was among the top students in the country.

Her father was lost for words.

“I am very proud of my daughter. It was surprising but I always knew
she had it in her.”

As he spoke, he pointed to his parked motorcycle which was used to transport his daughter to school for the past 13 years.

“Since nursery to secondary that man (motorcycle) been helping out,” he said, relating that he encountered many challenges to keep his daughter in school but never gave up, as he wanted her to have a bright future.

“Sometimes, it’s difficult but as parents you have to do your best regardless of what you are faced with, you have to put your child’s education first,” the proud father said.

Jadubir, who has a passion for science and technology, hopes to pursue a
career along that path in the future.

Skeldon Line Path Secondary this year also produced several other high flyers.

Yugeeta Kumar obtained 14 Grade Ones and two Grade Twos; PravenaBhoge
secured passes in 16 subjects with 13 Grade Ones and three Grade
Twos; Sarveena Persaud attained 12 Grade Ones, three Grade Twos and one Grade Three while Melisa Rama secured 12 Grade Ones.

The East Berbice Corentyne District continues to excel with Renee
Bisnauth of Berbice High School achieving 13 Grade Ones and two Grade Twos.

Are those exams getting  easier ?

My guess is the students have more resources available now than we had in our time  now they have the internet and can get information faster so no more going to library

I think Skelly attended SLP with the Chiefsta.

Either you're saying Skelly is young or Chief is old.

One is older and the other is younger.

I attended SLPGSS. Original batch from 1963. Without that school, I might have been a cane cutter or be working in the factory. Thank god for papa Cheddi. Many of us owe our successes to him.

Yeah, you were still in diapers when I started high school. You were three years when I finished high school running half naked in the streets

Yeah, I am retired after all the days of hard working. Time to breeze my balls. Your day might be approaching soon.

Pravena Bhoge lived(not sure she still lives there) on a house on the front street, about 4 houses before the school. Her mother was murdered before the children went to high school. I think her sister also was a top performer in region six a few years ago. I think the father remigrated back to the US and is living in NY.

Remember I came from a family of cane cutters and this was the type of language I am used to. This is mild compared to what was being said outside the house.

Whim girl is Region Six top CSEC performer

Sixteen-year-old Darshanie Jadubir called “Anjalie” of Whim Village, East Berbice, the hometown of Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo is Region Six top performer at this year’s Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC).

Jadubir, a student of JC Chandisingh Secondary School, has made her region, community and school proud by earning 15 Grade Ones and one Grade Two. She recalled the many hours spent studying and credited her success to God, her parents and teachers.
Her father, Narine Jadubir, a cash crop farmer and her mother Basmat Jainarine have provided constant support and encouragement to their daughter. The teen related how her father would use his motorcycle of 13 years to transport her to school every day.
Narine says he is proud of his only child and knew she would have done well since she has always been a high flyer from primary school. Jadubir attended the Auchlyne Primary School where she had secured 507 marks at the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) examinations prior to moving on the JC Chandisingh.
“I became emotional when I heard the results. I knew that she was going to do well but when we heard that she topped the region, it was unbelievable,” the proud father recalled. “…it goes to show that it does not matter what status you have or how rich or poor you are if you put in the hard work you will reap the benefits with the help of God,” Narine added.
He is encouraging other parents to invest in their children’s education since it will yield the best rewards later in life.

While not yet having chosen a career path, Darshanie loves the field of Science and Technology and said whenever she makes a final decision it will be something along the lines of both. For the immediate future, she is planning to enjoy the remainder of the August before she resumes her A-Level studies.
Her advice to those preparing to sit the examination is to put in the work early so that you can relax later on, “do not leave too much revision for the last few months, start early so you can relax towards the examination and be less stressed… As teens, it is sometimes difficult to focus because of all the changes in our bodies and stuff happening around us, but you have to find what calms you and make it work for you, so that you can work towards your goal.”

Congrats to the young lady on her academic achievements, but if she hopes to succeed in Guyana, she should enlist in the arm forces or the national service for at least two years. (I mean like serving your country before you take ownership of your country). I hope she is not aiming to run away from Guyana and become an armchair, Indo politician like you fools.

She doesn't have to enlist in the armed forces to serve her country. She could use her talents in other ways. Why waste time in the armed forces with a bunch of low achievers?

Fool, go look in the mirror. You will, of course, see the most ignorant jackass ever walked the face of this earth.

I associate him with Skeldon. I think he was the Hindi teacher. He was a big time Arya Samaj Pundit.

Guyana should have a military drafting system to enlist 18 years and older to serve Guyana for a minimum of two years. Especially the young drunkards and drug users who sit around all day. This is an excellent way to discipline them coolie lungeras.

He was the Pandit at the Aryan Samaj mandir my parents belong to. I know him. He must be in his late 80s or in his 90s.

No details, Mitwah. The man is forgiven for the wrongs he committed. Pt Ramlall Mata Ki Jai.
