STABROEK NEWS, JULY 27 ---

David Granger was this afternoon returned as Leader of the PNCR after his rival Aubrey Norton withdrew in protest over the arrangements for voting at the party’s Congress at Sophia.

Voting had already been marred by a commotion created by Region 10 delegates which led to the firing of a shot by a security guard.

The PNCR moments ago issued the following press release:

GRANGER RETURNED AS PARTY LEADER

Brigadier David Granger has been returned unopposed as Leader of the People’s National Congress after longtime party member Mr. Aubrey Norton indicated that he was no longer contesting for the leadership. Voting was delayed for several hours due to complaints of an inflated delegates list. Every effort was made to reconcile the situation, thus delaying the process. At 1345 Mr. Norton declined and the process of selecting the other party officers continues.

AUBREY NORTON HINTS AT LEAVING PNCR

Excerpt from DEMERARA WAVES:

Disaffected People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) member, Aubrey Norton on Sunday hinted that he could soon be cutting ties with that party, moment after he bowed out of the leadership race due to a flawed system.

β€œI have always been PNC but for the first time I have to sit down and think through where I go. I can promise everyone that I have no interest in the PPP (ruling People’s Progressive Party). I was never PPP, I will never be PPP,” he said.

Man you really full of shit. You are nothing but an apologist for Garbage!!!!!

Nehru

The people of Linden got what they deserved form Granger and Indo Guyanese will get a lot more than this from a man who has a pattern of Rigging starting from his Burnham era.

Granger has Indo blood on his hands least we forget our Brothers who were murdered during 1973 rigged elections. Grangers has been linked to this incident of rigging.

The PNC will never change their pattern of rigging to stay in power. Beware of the PNC especially if you are an Indo Guyanese. They will continue to rig and frig in Guyana.

Ow bhai Kishan,

Gilly was hoping a marriage of the PNC with the AFC. His hopes may now be dashed now with this rigging by Granger.

Gerhard was talking about an alliance with the PNC. He better watch his back with Granger.

Don't rush to judgement, Kish.

The "fog of war" hasn't evaporated yet.

By tomorrow all Guyana will get a clearer picture of whether or not Granger was involved in rigging the PNC's internal elections.

So far, I am going by STABROEK NEWS and DEMERARA WAVES news reports, and my tentative impression is that there were administrative and logistical issues arising from the Region 10 contingent that included recently recruited PNC members.

LOL, whether Granja was involved or not, HE IS THE LEADER.  The buck stops at whose desk???

Granja is finished.  NO PPP supporter will walk away now.  Now is the time for Ramu to call the elections. PNC can never win the upcoming elections.  They are frauds.

Mr Gilbakka me mamoo and pappy went to congress. It did not rig. Mr Granger will need to sort out the problem with Linden. Mr Sharma Solomon say it was logistic problem. Not rig.
