Dazzling array of costumes at children’s competition
The Children’s Mashramani Competition entered into its fourth day today with more than 40 schools participating in the costume and float segment at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown.

Nursery and primary school students decked out in colorful costumes took to the stage, depicting Guyana’s rich culture.
The Sports hall was filled to capacity, as students, teachers and parents came out in their numbers to support their own. Students competed in categories such as tropical and fantasy.

For the Nursery Individual, Tropical category, Alexander Village, South Road and East Street Nursery gained first second and third spot respectively, while Selman Fraser and Head Start nursery schools gained first and second place respectively in the fantasy category.
In the Group tropical categories, Lodge and South Road Nursery dominated securing first and second respectively.
Smith Memorial Primary topped the 5-7 individual, tropical Category and Ketley Primary secured first in the fantasy category.
In the 8-10 Individual Fantasy category, St Ann’s secured first place, St Gabriel’s second, followed by St Steven’s Primary. Meanwhile Smith Memorial copped first place in the group category.
In the 11-13 group individual fantasy category, St Steven’s and Ketley primary gained first and second respectively, while St Steven’s placed first in the Group Tropical category.
In the primary individual category, South Ruimveldt placed first, Agricola, second and St Margaret’s primary third.

In the 11-14Individual Fantasy, Richard Ishmael and St John’s Primary topped. Additionally, in the tropical category, Central High and School of the Nations were adjudged second and third respectively.
This year’s Competitions are being held under the theme “Reflecting Creativity Embracing Diversity”. The competition continues tomorrow when secondary schools will showcase their talent in the form of physical display.
