Hide your kids, hide your pizzas â but especially your pizzas, because apparently you can't even trust your delivery guy anymore. According to CTV, a Domino's delivery driver in Surrey, British Columbia recently got caught committing the cardinal sin of sneaking a few bites of a customer's pizza before delivering it right to said customer's door. Yeah, bold isn't even the word to describe this type of betrayal.
The pizza guy in question was in the middle of delivering a pie to a customer in a high-rise building in B.C. when the incident took place. As shown in the video obtained by CTV News, the man made his way into the building's elevator and past the doorman before setting the pizza bag down, opening up the box, and stealing off a few toppings as soon as the elevator doors closed. He then packed everything back up and proceeded to make his way out of the elevator to make the delivery but, idk, maybe he doesn't know very much about how modern technology works? Because little did he know that the elevator he was in was actually equipped with a camera â as lots of elevators are these days â and that's pretty much what led to him getting busted.
The building's concierge, aka the hero of this story, said that he notified the resident who ordered the pizza immediately after he saw what went down.
"I was like, 'What the heck is going on?'" he told CTV. "The person is like cheating his job."
In a statement made to CTV Vancouver, Domino's vice president of marketing, Jeff Kacmarek, said, "We apologize to our customers, obviously we don't condone this behavior. We have thousands of hard-working, good drivers, working for us every day and providing great service to our customers and it's just unfortunate that this particular incident hurts them."
As for the hungry delivery driver, he's been let go from the company.
