You are correct, the AFC/PNC fund raising operation would be severely hampered if they had to resort to drug runs by boat. However you will note that this has not deterred them in the past as evidenced by cocaine in lumber and other creative methods. At least these folks think outside the box, but this is not the skill needed to run a country.

Well CA now does nonstop  from both NY and TO, which is why DL has a problem.  Those who dont like the POS stop do not have to do it.

Air Jamaica used to struggle to reach Grenada with A320 equipment, often leaving behind bags, so they definitely cannot do GEO.  The issue is wheether Jetblue will acrquire these aircraft and use them to GEO, giving that routes to larger South American countries are more lucrative.

But maybe if T&T can attract Jetblue then GEO might stand a chance, given that the market out of JFK to both points has similar composition.

The A320 can do the NY/GEO with fuel left ovet it can also do the Toronto GY

The A320 can fly a maximum distance of 6,150 km.   The distance from NY GEO is or 4095 km (Delta)

You probably got mixed up with their McDonnell-Douglas MD-80

You have to take into account that the planes into GEO are not only full of passengers, but also baggage.  Air Ja had a problem into Grenada, which is closer to NY than is GEO, and were always leaving nags behind.

I also remember that Universal had an A320 which ran out of fuel enroute to GEO.

You have to factor in the fact that if a plane is unable to land at GEO, the closest airports at POS and P'bo are not close by.

Looks like Delta's management decided the Guyana route was not profitable enough!

WHAT HAPPENS IF CARIBBEAN AIRLINES WERE TO STOP FLYING INTO GUYANA ?

That would be interesting!

How long does a boat ride from NY to Guyana take ?

If you hear that Ca is stopping service to GEO its because they are about to shut down.  There is no way that the T&T govt will allow that.

The problem isnt whether CA will stop flying.  Its that monopolists always abuse their dominance.  I have no problem with CA as I will always support a decent Caribbean product.  I do know that unless a company has competition it gets disrespectful and uncompetitive.  So another carrier into GEO will be needed as NYC has enough business to support two carriers.

This delta pullin out of Guyana can be a serious setback for some. I'd like to know how things will turn out after this. Don't believe fly jamaica can handle the workload. CA is bound to jack up their fares.
