Guyana's political history has recorded some remarkable coincidences. Leonora martyr Kowsilla was killed on MARCH 6, 1964. Dr Cheddi Jagan died on MARCH 6, 1997. Devon Hansraj was killed on MARCH 6, 2020.

I mourn the death of Devon Hansraj.  But, he was shot while attacking policemen with a cutlass.  His death could be credited to the Jagdeo/Ali cabal.

Sad that this youngman lost his life but he a d the others chose to set fire and destroy their own village which is predominatly PPP.

I have close relatives that lives there and from all reports there was no need for the destructive behavior by many of the PPP supporters yesterday at Cotton Tree.

On the other hand , the Police need to show more restraint.

If the press reports are correct the police did show restraint.  I was shocked to read that the young man was shot as he was chopping two officers who had run out of ammunition. The officer who shot him apparently had arrived from another location where there was a confrontation.

The female police officer who was injured was not a target from the crowd, she ran and fell down and the crowd fall on her, that’s how her feet was hurt. Many officers were shelter by Indians. 

The police should answer to the cartridge that kill the young man.

That blame falls on Granger and the PNC dominated Coalition who refused to do the right thing at elections time. It is the same damn nonsense every elections time. The PNC cannot accept defeat peacefully and violence always follow. But Totaram prefers to deflect to matters that are totally unrelated to the incidents yesterday. What is completely missing from her comments so far is a call for the Coalition to do the right thing and respect the choice of the electorate.
