The event began at the junction of Main and Alexander Street in New Amsterdam and proceeded to the University of Guyana Tain Campus before returning to the starting line for the finish. Dey was dominant and rode home unchallenged to win from the rest of the field. Occupying the other top were positions Balram Narine, Jason Cameron Ralph Seenarine and David Hicks fifth. Seenaine was the first juvenile to cross the finishing line with Hicks and Sewnarine Bhowandin occupying the other two spots. Shenika Teixeira, who is scheduled to represent Guyana at the upcoming Inter Guiana Games, was the lone female in the contest and she received a special prize and words of commendation from hose present. Dey for his dominance copped three of the prime point prizes on offer with the other going to Narine. Mr. Amsterdam along with his wife Tamera Amsterdam and present B Division Commander Assistant Commissioner Paul Williams were on hand to start the race and assisted in the distribution of the prizes. Both Williams and Amsterdam spoke at the presentation ceremony which followed immediately after. Williams gave glowing tribute to his predecessor and pledged to continue in his footsteps. Mentioning that though the boots may be large, he promised to fill them and even go a bit further. He promised to continue working with Roberts and the FACC. Amsterdam was graceful and very thankful for all the support he received during his long career in the Guyana Police Force, especially during his tenure as Commander of B Division. He had special words of commendation for Roberts and the FACC and pledged to continue his support. Roberts was overwhelmed in giving gratitude to Amsterdam as he reminisced on his success as a Commander and the support he garnered and close relationship between the FACC and the Police. A few parents and well-wishers also spoke glowingly of departing Commander Amsterdam and Roberts. They wished Amsterdam well in his retirement and welcomed present Commander Williams to Berbice and wished him all the best in his new position. Among the sponsors were Assistant Commissioner Paul Williams, Assist Superintendent Timothy Williams, Inspector Clay Rose, Businesswoman Pearl Arokium, A. Ally and Sons, Evil Eyes, Vickrams Jewelry, Fix It and Cheneck and Sons Supermarket among others.
