Once again we can say that we're proud of our Indian heritage. And, in so doing, the young man that made India realized that hindi classical singing may have started in India, but doesn't end in India.

Sammy Parag, born in New York from Guyanese parents, made it on India's popular show, Dil Hai HindustanI and received standing ovation for his singing. He was overwhelmed with tears of joy and he was speechless.

Sammy's singing is a match Bollywood has to reckon with. (Asj, please take note of this for Bollywood forum).

The show for 2017 started, Sunday, January 08. Please Google Sam Parag, or type the name of the show to see him in action.

Congratulations and best wishes in his endeavor.

When the Admin can't something right, it sets a bad example for everyone else. Since you mention Prince, I took the privilege to research Benny Parag farewell trip to India where he sang on the talent show, Dil Hai Hindustani. His name is Benny instead of Sammy, but a knowledgeable person would know how to manipulate his research to find something. I forgive you since you're only human.

I am surprised that he is nervous.  The first time I saw him he was a child and he was belting out ghazals and Bollywood music effortlessly and fearlessly while playing his own tabla.   I was amazed at how brave he was at such a young age.

Not too many kids sing ghazals.  I felt like I was watching a person who was in this world before.

What amazed me, it that Karan Johar said he sang better than the original singer. In my lifetime, he is the second person I heard said that. Isn't this an insult of the original singer? Think in terms that the original is what sets the stage for copycats, etc. Without the original, there wouldn't be this particular song.

I agree with Karan Johar.  Benny sings it better than the original singer.  You should go and see him in person at Richmond High School.  He is usually in a concert called Visions every year in November.  It's the best $15.00 you will ever spend.

There is amazing young talent coming out of your neighborhood there.  By the way, that song is from the movie Khabi Alvida Nah Kehna which is produced and Directed by Karan Johar and filmed in New York City.  One part is filmed in Grand Central Terminal and along Park Avenue.

I am not a big Indian movie fan, but I love listening to Indian songs from professional singers and local talents. I believe Benny Parag is deeper into music on a higher level than most of our local singers. Now that he made it to India to showcase his talent, this will encourage a lot of young forks that are pursuing singing as a career. Coming back to the movies, I know from earlier days to now, things have changed for the better in terms of shooting locations and scenery, but the story line is not quite impressive for me. That's just my opinion. BTW, I didn't know you were a big fan, but before I aim to criticize, I should watch a few recent movies before rushing to judgement. It my pleasure to get entangle with Indian movies and songs with you in the future.

Haha.  I am jack of all trades master of none.  If you want to get back into watching Indian movies watch the one I mentioned above.  Or any movie starring Sharukh Khan and Kajol.  You won't be disappointed.  My personal favorite is Dil Ka Rishta with Arjun Rampal and Ashwariya Rai.  Bollywood movies have come a long way.  They are not silly like many of the old ones.

The last Indian movie I saw was kutch, Kutch hota hai, and I love everything about that particular movie. That should give you an idea where I left off.
