Dindyal, Boyle guide EBD to victory over West Demerara

Mavindra Dindyal struck a half century while Marlon Boele picked up four wickets to guide East Bank Demerara (EBD) a 61-run victory over West Demerara when the Inter Association U-17 50-over tournament concluded yesterday in Demerara.
EBD opted to bat and lost the early scalp of Yeudistir Persaud lbw to Joshua Reddy without scoring, but Mahindra Persaud and Sachin Singh added 80 for the second wicket to stabilise the innings.
Persaud struck four boundaries before he was run out for a fluent 38 while Singh was stumped off Rajesh Budram for 17, one run later. However Dindyal anchored the innings with a run-a-ball 51 (5Γ4); he added 71 with Rahul Singh who was dismissed for 13 before he fell, caught and bowled by Andre Seepersaud as EBD managed 181-7. Seepersaud claimed 2-19.
West Demeraraβs reply got off to a steady start with openers Ushardeva Balgobin and Nicholas Rajpat putting on 34 before Saurav Singh handed EBD the breakthrough by removing Balgobin for 13. Rajpat and Seepersaud kept their team in the hunt with a partnership of 40 for the second wicket before Rajpat was caught and bowled by Zachary Jodah for 22.
Seepersaud was then removed by Mohamed Jameer for 28 (3Γ4) while Avinash Khemraj was the only other batsman that offered any resistance with 17 as West Demerara were bowled out for 120 in 42 overs. Boele finished with 4-27, Jameer 3-16 and Jodah 2-21.
West Demerara edged East Coast by two runs at Everest CC and Georgetown overcame East Bank Demerara by eight runs at Bourda in the second round played on Wednesday.
Batting first, West Demerara won the toss and elected to bat posting 110 all out in 41.2 overs. Andre Seepersaud top scored with 29 as Andrew Samaroo grabbed 3-19 in 9.2 overs, while Travon Charles and Aaron Beharry supported with two wickets a piece.
In reply East Coast was sent packing for 108 in 43 overs. Trevon Charles top scored with 23 while Aaron Beharry made 22 not out. Joshua Reddy captured 3-11, Ushardiva Balgobin 3-33 and Andre Seepersaud 2 for 11.
Georgetown batted first and managed 105 from their reduced quota of 40 overs due to rain. Garrick Persaud top scored with 20, Wayne Bollers contributed 17 not out and Raynaldo Mohamed 12 not out. Sourav Singh and Zachary Jodah took 2 for 12 each, while Sachin Singh and Marlon Boek took one wicket each.
In reply East Bank were sent packing for 98 in 39 overs. Mavindra Dindyal and Sachin Singh scored 16 apiece with the former being unbeaten. Niron Bissu snared 3 for 16.
