The best person to answer your questions is Odeen Ishmael's son Safraz. He started this Forum at a time when the term "chatroom" was popular. I think Safraz wanted a more formal term.

Here you can discuss, ask questions or generally debate anything related to politics, movies, music, health or just gyaff away your day/night here. A note of warning, the Political forum is not for the faint of heart.

I am examining my wasted time. 

I just spent 3 hours away from GNI. We just watched a movie and I spent about 40 mins solving a diabolical expert level Sudoku.

Changes will happen. But it should be slow. The environment has changed since Safraz started it.

@Django, although you and I have lived outside Guyana for 23+ years we should remember what political "discussions" in the homeland are like. Normally soft spoken folks would raise their voices to make a political point, be they at the street corner, a bottom house, wedding house, or dead house. Personal  insults are part of their arsenal. So what we have in this Political Discussion Forum is an extension of our homeland culture. Only difference is that cuss words have replaced cutlass and cuffs. Dis is we Guyanese style, banna. You wanna change it to American style? Dem is more aggressive, pugnacious and offensive dan we.

I agree Gilly. Back around the turn of the century I used to be on AltaVista and then on BeliefNet and although BeliefNet was a religious site the stuff exchanged there would make the worst on GNI look like Gospel. It is only one group here who complain ad-nauseum over everything. They are always free to check out if this bothers them. I think they would be happy if all of us just give blacks free passes rather than holding them responsible for their behavior. As soo as you criticize a black person, it is because you are a racist. Even Ronan accused D2 and Vishmohabir of being racist just because they criticized the Coalition. Well they can kiss my ass for all I care.

Before GNI I never knew words like, bella nor tawa, growing up I never heard these words not even from my east indian neighbours, but I did hear of rollin pin, Roti pan.
