I know an unemployed, single mom who got a ten year visa to the US.  She can't go because she can't afford to pay her passage.  Family members and neighbors are taking up a collection to help her out!

Seriously.  The US gives lengthy non immigrant visas to people who are at low risk of attempting to stay in the USA. The people getting these will be mainly affluent people, business people gov't officials, and others who have made frequent visits to the USA, this being evidence that they have no desire to live there.

You can indicate anecdotes, and maybe some might get through. But not the majority.

I think that the anecdotal reports suggest that it is easy to get a US visa. I know of two maids who have 10 years visa.
