In October as we recognize Domestic Violence Awareness month I can only wish more cases like this can be highlighted. It is time we end the war by elevating the VOICES of our women not when they are killed but when they are alive.
Accompanying Shanett Savory's mother on this trip was not the news we had hoped for. Nevertheless, know that families crave for justice n in cases like this we do not need to wait years to find a body of any missing woman. More funding needs to be assessed to help bring these cases to justice. We do not need case files disappearing n corruption in the Guyana police force. #NUFFSAID
I am actually grateful to Guyana's media for the years of support n always being there to highlight these cases. Know that there are also cases that do not get the media's attention so the numbers would be higher for Domestic Violence Homicide than reported. Thanks to Royston Drakes from Capitol News for capturing this footage. The media's support has helped the birth of "Let The Women Speak" campaign.
Thanks to my niece Sharon Khan for sharing this n reminding me more work needs to be done to help these families.
