Depends on how one defines "Greatness". Guyana's sugar workers (canecutters) sat at the lowest of the value-chain of the sugar industry. They remained at the bottom of the totem pole even today. Though some aspects of his fight was indeed laudible, I still wonder what was his end game a legacy he had hoped to leave.
One cannot extract more out of less and value add of cane cutting was just that. Don't get me wrong, it was industrious and righteous work, but in the end a hand and a sharp cutlass will always only add what a hand and sharp cutlass brings to the table, no more, no less, no leverage.
