Rowley is wrong. What kind of a human being is he? People who enjoy their wealth all by themselves, without sharing, are no different from animals who fill their stomachs with what they grab. A genuine human being will share whatever little he has.

Someone needs to remind him that Trinidad has no oil left. T'dad told Guyana that plantain chips will spoil, oil doesn't. He needs to go back and look in the long term what will happen in the future for the island. What will they do to create future jobs? Sell plantain chips or allow ISIS to rule the island?

Mits, look at UN/US-approved refugee camps in the Middle East, Africa and elsewhere. They were meant to be temporary but decades later they have grown instead of shrinking. From the host countries' standpoint they have become burdens and many refugees demand services that locals don't enjoy. On a world map Trinidad is just a dot compared to Venezuela. Just imagine....

Mits, whats up bro?

Guyana and Trinidad should let in refugees, but not grant them citizenship rights in the long run...dem Indos and Afros already watching each other suspiciously in Guyana and Trinidad...

Rowley is just being Rowdy.

Stop being stupid. What's the point of admitting refugees into Guyana to work and live and not grant them citizenship? For how long would they remain refugees?

Here comes de anti- - - trollster, acting like he know it all...

Dude...in this climate of racial suspicion...the Guyana government granting citizenship readily can be interpreted as a means to pad the voter's list...you following the arguments below regarding the Venezuelans and supposedly Haitians in the country?

Refugees dont just come into a country and be granted citizenship automatically...no country will do that...I am sure in Guyana this requires a process.

In the US, a person will be granted legal status, speak English, provided accommodation, social security, assisted with a job, etc... Then they have to repay the govt for the cost (airfare, etc) once they settled in. Rights to citizenship comes lalter...

I'm going to shred your inane comments. Re-read your post. You said "... NOT grant them citizenship in the long run." Did you doze off during the previous post or this one or just don't know what you're talking about? GoG cannot engineer a refugee situation for their own benefit. When refugees seek refuge they have to be attended to regardless of which party stands to benefit.

Except that Trinidad doesnt have wealth and is not positioned to accommodate more than the 60k Venoes who already live on that island.

And it isnt the wealthy of a nation who are impacted by impoverished refugees.  Its the poor who face more competition for employment, more crowded health facilities and higher rents.

The wealthy can live in their mansions and opine but they dont bear the consequences of this.

And they should then bear the burden of 60k starving people?  I think not.  I suggest that Canada swoops down and rescues all of them as well as the millions of Central Americans. After all they always boast how humane they are, so let them prove it.
