www.inewsguyana.com] – President of Venezuela, NicolÁs Maduro ordered the suspension of the steps taken to grant the approval of the Bolivarian Government to the new ambassador appointed by Guyana to Venezuela.
According to the Venezuela’s Foreign Ministry, the procedures for acceptance were ongoing, but “were frustrated by attacks of the neighboring nation’s foreign minister, Carl Greenidge, from the United States.”
According to the statement, “The Venezuelan president said on his weekly television program that due to the attacks, he ordered the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Delcy RodrÍguez, to stop the process of accreditation requested by the Guyanese Government.
“It is nonsense to initiate the diplomatic way of regularization, the appointment and admission of ambassadors and suddenly go to the United States to launch attacks against Venezuela,” said Maduro.
Maduro reiterated that Venezuela wants relations with Guyana, but these must be based on respect.
“We are a nation of peace and our Essequibo claim (disputed territory with the neighboring country) will always go by way of international law, dialogue and truth,” he added.
