Guyana is headed to one of it's worst recession in it's history.
APNU appears clueless.
I encourage Indo businessmen not to invest in Guyana until PNC stops it's blatantly racist treatment of Indo Guyanese.
Hit them where it hurts.
Evidence of PNC racism:
New Govt rolls 50+ heads in 30 days
â PPP/C claims political victimisation, ethnic selectivity in firings
Since occupying office on May 16, the David Granger-led administration has sacked more than 50 employees of the Government in less than 30 days, even as it insists that it has not engaged in any âwitch-huntingâ. The former Peopleâs Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) administration has condemned the dismissals in the harshest possible terms.
In a press release over the weekend, the PPP/C accused the A Partnership for National Unity/ Alliance For Change (APNU/AFC) Government of embarking on an âethnic-cleansingâ spree, where it is outrageously dismissing Guyanese professionals on the basis of their race and political affiliation. More than any other thing, the PPP/C has objected to the manner in which the dismissals were effectuated, pointing out that the employees were not afforded due process. In most cases their severing of accumulated benefits we deemed âvindictiveâ.
The APNU/AFC administration has thus far fired employees from the Office of the President (now Ministry of Presidency), Ministry of Communities, Amerindian Affairs Ministry, and Social Protection Ministry, and sent on leave Regional Executive Officers, Members of State Board of Directors, and recalled diplomats.
At least 20 persons listed on the payroll of the National Communications Network, who were stationed at the Office of the President as media monitors, were abruptly fired by the new administration. Presidential guards were also dismissed from the Office of the President.
In addition, Press and Publicity Officer attached to the Office of the President, Kwame McCoy, was also sacked by the Government on the grounds that he failed to report to duty since May 12. McCoy was at the time on medical leave after he was violently assaulted by APNU/AFC supporters on Election Day, May 11, even as he was in an open-backed Police Vehicle. Minutes earlier he had been escorted out of St Sidwellâs Primary School by David Granger and Joseph Harmon.
Over at the Ministry of Indigenous Peopleâs Affairs, Permanent Secretary Nigel Dharamlall and the former Head of the National Toshaos Council, Yvonne Pearson, were also dismissed by the Government. For Pearson, she believes her dismissal is solely a result of her openly supporting the PPP/C in the May 11 Elections. Dharamlall also was a candidate of the PPP/C during the elections campaign.
Former Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Ministry Collin Croal, another PPP/C candidate, was sent on leave after which he was asked to resign. Additionally, Guyana Water Incorporation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shaik Baksh was also sent on leave for 72 days; however his contract will expire before that period is over.
The Government also sacked the CEO of the Guyana Sugar Corporation, Dr Raj Singh, and forced all of its Board of Directors to resign. Those persons include Geeta Singh-Knight, Shaik Baksh, Badrie Persaud, Keith Burrowes and Dindyal Permaul. In addition, Region Nineâs (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) REO Claire Singh, and political advisor and former Local Government Minister Clinton Collymore were fired.
Director of the Child Care and Protection Agency Anne Green was sent on leave after a confrontation with Junior Minister Simona Broomes. And acting Town Clerk Carol Sooba was another professional who was humiliated and thrown out of her office.
Most recently, the APNU/AFC Government recalled Zulfikar Ally from his post as Director for the Caribbean at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and Guyanaâs Ambassador to Mexico Bayney Karran and Guyanaâs Ambassador to Brazil Merlin Udho were recalled from their posts.
Several other professional individuals were either dismissed or forced to render their services at their respective posts. Most of them were not even allowed to receive their legally due benefits. The PPP/C has noted that these actions are clear evidence that an undemocratic Government is taking effect.
Referring specifically to the situation with the former Director for the Caribbean at the IDB, the PPP/C said âMr Ally occupies this position having been nominated by Guyana and endorsed by the Governments of the Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago. His track record at the Bank is nothing short of outstanding, with the Caribbean being elevated to a position of prominence in the Bankâs decision making architecture as a result of his efforts,â the PPP/C said in a release.
The PPP/C went on to slam the new Government for not adhering to its words of conducting an assessment of Allyâs performance before deciding on whether or not he should continue his tenure for the remainder of the year.
âFinance Minister Winston Jordan performed no assessment whatsoever, communicated no findings and shortcomings arising out of this assessment, and instead summarily recalled Mr Ally and installed a retired friend of his who has not lived or worked in Guyana for over 24 years as Mr Allyâs replacement,â the Party highlighted, noting that this is a clear case of racism, cronyism and nepotism.
The PPP/C added that Allyâs replacement does not even serve in the best interest of the country. âThe Caribbean Chair in the IDB will be represented by someone who has no knowledge or experience of the workings of the Bank, the Board of Executive Directors or, for that matter, Guyana for the past 20 years, and will not be eligible to chair any committees for the one year he will serve as the Executive Director,â the Party noted. The PPP/C pointed this decision will only diminish the Constituencyâs influence in the Bank and will be a major concern of other member countries of the Caribbean.
Further, the PPP/C lambasted the new Government for recalling the ambassadors from their posts without any rational reasoning behind the decision. âBy what measure can Bayney Karran not be deemed a professional diplomat? He is a qualified lawyer of highly respected standing who has served at the ambassadorial level with distinction for 20 years in two of Guyanaâs most important diplomatic postsâĶBy what measure can Merlin Udho not be deemed a professional diplomatic, having worked for a number of years in the international system even outside of the Government of Guyana and prior to her ambassadorial appointment?â
Recently, PPP/C General Secretary Clement Rohee had urged those who were wronged to come forth and, by all means, fight for justice to at least ensure they receive their benefits. Rohee said the PPP/C will also be taking its role seriously in representing these âvictimisedâ individuals by writing letters and holding press conferences to raise awareness of the ill-treatment being administered by the Granger-led administration.
The General Secretary added that the PPP/C has been receiving floods of reports indicating that a significant portion of employees within the public service are consumed with âintimidation, fear, distress and uneasinessâ owed to the p
The PNC/AFC went in with a preconceived notion and AFC especially sold this to the Indians many of whom bought the lie. Today they cannot come with proof so they desperate to save face and the PNC used the opportunity to ethnically cleanse the few Indian civil servants and AFC cannot say shyte. This is all about coolie crab-dags and opportunist Afros.

Settin yourself up....perhaps?

Hit them where it hurts.
It is heading to a real economy not one built on sand. The PPP lived by borrowing and have no productive sector. They left nothing in the coffers so you creeps are speaking to an illusion of prosperity.
Guyana is heading to a future minus drug money and Chinese loans for fake projects. A real economy is creative. It encourages innovation. Drug money stifles real growth because all you get is a fast food economy. Those dunces know little about making real things.

Blah Blah Blah.
Next is lining up for food and gas.
I spoke to a few business people from Guyana and they are saying that the is an economic slowdown, however, one would need to see the data to support that statement. What I sense from them was a feeling of insecurity and distrust similar to what many Blacks felt under the PPP/C.
I think the most challenging and important thing for this government is to allay distrust among the races and instill confidence in all that is of OK to invest and continue to invest in businesses.

Tell that to racists like Harmon, Jordon and Greenidge. PNC will once again kill the goose that lays the golden eggs

actually racism emanates from all races in Gy. At the same time no one race can claim the themselves as the producer of the "golden egg" everyone contributes.

I suggest they quit focusing on race and on the system. Guyana is ripe for change. Its people are its dead weight. They are steeped in cultural provincialism and race hate. That reality is borne out here where a bunch of racist dunces are insisting they alone have the genetic heritage to move the nation. I wonder why the hell their ancestors were struck in a 6000 year malaise in untouchability back in india.
The present administration need to restrain its hand, temper its judgement and walk us out of this racial mind field ( I meant mine here but I think I shall leave it as is). It has to look for the best of us to be in charge of overseeing and planning and not lean into the race politics that is our disease. If they do that they will fail.

beyond their own irrational prejudices, what exactly are your "business people" friends pointing to that validate "distrust among the races" that did not exist prior to 5/11. . . and what exactly are the cautionary signals they have received regarding continued investment in Guyana under the new Gov't?

Guyana has no golden goose. It has only mediocrity and race focused idiots like yourself who need to be redirected to better use of their intellect. That there are golden goose is for the story books not the real world.
validate "distrust among the races" that did not exist prior to 5/11. . .
"What I sense from them was a feeling of insecurity and distrust similar to what many Blacks felt under the PPP/C."
Which is stuck without any forward direction.

that's why i ask if they offered anything other than their own racial prejudices to validate the "insecurity and distrust"
after all, the new Gov't has effectively been in place a scant 2 months

YES. According to Hindu Pandit Yugi, INDIANS alone are responsible for success in Guyana - they are the "gooses" (yugi word) that lay golden eggs, have "disposable income", invest, and without Indians there can be no economy. If this isn't the very definition of racism and Indo supremacy then I don't know what is.
That his fcking brethren run to live under in successful economies in the islands run by black man escapes this jerk. This racial superiority being spread by devout Hindu and alleged pandit Yugi makes me think Kean Gibson has a point. There is something horribly wrong in the way some of these Indians view other human beings.

Agree, but I see it often enough to make me believe there is something terribly wrong with some of them. Certainly not all.
that's why i ask if they offered anything other than their own racial prejudices to validate the "insecurity and distrust"
They think there is a witch hunt against Indos because everytime they look at the news they see Indos losing jobs and Indos getting robbed and killed- it may be their own prejudices that they do not stop to reason why they may be losing their jobs and that all races are victims of crime.
But the fact is there is racial distrust in Gy. It will be the major challenge of this government. It will be very difficult to get all the races to see beyond their own prejudice but the government must continue to try what they have already started, They cannot be distracted from that single goal or else Gy will be more of the same

Two jamb-lolo at it again.
Granger needs to assert himself more and push the agenda he want, not the old PNC "last stand" hags looking for "Burnham revenge".
average IQ on this thread sliding into the toilet with your every post
u don't even pretend to actually know what u are talking about. . . and the strange part is that you're not really trying to be funny

Haha, from Mr I going back if/when PNC wins, empty barrel. He probably never consulted his significant other. She said "haul yuh rass".
tell them to keep their drug money;
Look there is racial insecurity in Gy and regardless of what you or I think people have a right to question, it is part of democracy or else there is none.
On the other hand your above statement is pure ignorance. You do not know me or my friends so to make such a statement is the height of foolishness or maybe it is how a PolySci grad reasons â have all the answers but does nothing and posts on a forum all day seeking validation. Sad life.

Well of course if the vast majority of those who headed govt agencies were Indians then of course the vast majority of those found incompetent and'or corrupt will be Indian.
Does the PPP wish to tell us that Ramotar's son, or the Guysuco CEO did good jobs? No they are merely continuing their ethnic warfare.
Nuff nuff Afros got jobs under the PPP!!
Yes, As $200 a month clerks.
As the APNU/CEO clean house they merely reveal the extent to which Indians DOMINATED almost all leadership slots.
If APNU/AFC is only getting rid of the Indians, then who are these massive numbers of blacks in leadership slots that they are keeping? Kwame McCoy?
They think there is a witch hunt against Indos because everytime they look at the news they see Indos losing jobs
In fact the reason why its Indos who are losing tehse top level jobs is because it was mainly the Indos who had the jobs in the first place. But they didn't notice that, and when this was brought to their attention, we were called racists, and some blacks were even KILLED by the PPP. David Hinds can speak of the death threats which he received from PPP thugs.
