My cousin a resident of Suriname now a US resident spent

the weekend at my home,we had a discussion about cost of

living comparing to Guyana and US it's far cheaper to live

there, they even got 4G wireless service and fast internet,

i plan to spend some time there when i retire,I don't

have to worry about housing she have a house there.

I just can't understand how Guyana is so far behind Suriname even though we are neighbours and of similar ethnicity as a whole.

Suriname's ethnicity is different.  They have a large Javanese population (15%) and the Maroons have nothing to do with the Creoles.  Both are now roughly equal in size.

So there isn't that sense of panic when two groups of roughly equal size (Indians and African/mixed) feel that their survival depends on a winner take all approach.

 

The greater complexity of Suriname's ethnicities means that their politics is different.
