He further urged Guyanese to protect the freedoms they now enjoy, which were fought for tirelessly on all fronts, by founding members of the PPP party, Cheddi and Janet Jagan, Ashton Chase and Jocelyn Hubbard, and was further catapulted by outgoing president Bharrat Jagdeo.
In an attempt to answer the popular question that has been asked by many, as to whether or not President Bharat Jagdeo will continue to play an integral role in the continued development of the country, he said, “I am convinced that working side by side with him ( Jagdeo), as he is undoubtedly the best supplied economist in Guyana and the Caribbean, the development thrust of the country will be catapulted,” Ramotar said.
Ramotar further alluded to the fact that, under the PPP/C administration, Guyana has realised many achievements in every aspect of life… “We could talk about our houselots, the schools, the hospitals, the roads, the stadium, the Convention Centre, the Berbice Bridge,” Ramotar said.

He also noted that the party’s greatest achievement is the return to democracy and freedom to Guyana, which he believes a price tag cannot be placed on. “This is so important, it is essential to our very existence…The many things the PPPC administration has achieved could not have been realised, had we not brought back freedom, defended freedom daily, entrenched it and expanded it in our country… We simply could not have made it outside of the framework of freedom and democracy…we must therefore guard this freedom jealously, by working everyday to ensure that it becomes irreversible in Guyana,” Ramotar said.
He continued his discourse on freedom by saying “that is why I have said before that election in a way is a celebration of democracy, because it offers the people of our country, the opportunity to decide on the government of their choice,” Ramotar said.

Ramotar said that now is the time for Guyana to be catapulted to a highly developed and modernized country by building new infrastructure, and making additional investments on the platform of the foundations that were already laid in the country.
He said too, that it is Guyanese who will build this land, however the PPPC government will continue to create the conditions to enable them to make that contribution in making Guyana the best in the world, “I promise you, as long as the PPPC exists, we will constantly fight for equal opportunity for all… our party will never move away from being a national party, open to all Guyanese…our party will forever remain a bulwark against racism and any form of discrimination,” Ramotar said.
The dream of an El Dorado is being realised as the administration, in recognizing the fact there is the need for have cheaper energy, as it is vital for the creation of more jobs in Guyana, has invested significant sums in the Amaila Falls Hydropower project, which Ramotar says will be operation within a five- year span. “This will give us the energy that we need at this point in our country’s life, to process our many products and it will also see larger manufacturing centres being realised countrywide,” Ramotar said.
Ramotar reminded supporters of the other many developmental projects into which government has injected billions of dollars such as; the Hinterland Electrification Project, which caters for the provision of solar panels to be provided to Amerindian communities, the Grow More Food Campaign, which is geared towards reducing the global phenomenon of hunger and food shortage; and the resuscitation of bauxite mining amongst others.
These investments, Ramotar believes, “will provide bigger opportunities for employment and will see the employment of more people in the producing sectors in Guyana…This will not happen in five years, but rather, is happening now, as contracts for these major development projects were already inked, with works already being executed,” Ramotar said.
