Stabroek Market Police Outpost
A former policeman was Sunday night shot and injured after assaulting and wounding several policemen at the Stabroek Market outpost.
Leon Prince was up to Monday afternoon hospitalised under guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC). He was shot to his left leg. The bullet exited and entered the right leg, fracturing a bone in the process.
Police sources said he would likely be charged with resisting arrest, assaulting a peace officer and causing actual bodily harm.
βHe will get the full package,β the police source said.
Demerara Waves Online News was told that Prince was arrested after someone made a report of threatening behaviour.
When the former policeman was arrested and taken to the outpost, he allegedly went to the toilet and broke its seat. He used parts of the seat to cut a number of the ranks. One policeman sustained a cut above an eye, another slashed on his face and the third cop was lashed about his body. They were treated and sent away.
