Ex-policeman dead after being shot by police during failed robbery

May 9, 2016 11:42 am Category: Crime, latest news A+ / A-

A botched robbery by an ex-police officer turned deadly in the wee hours this morning (Monday) after he was shot by patrol ranks who were on duty at the time of the incident.

USA, New York State, New York City, Crime scene barrier tape

Reports are that at 01:10hrs today, the perpetrator (ex policeman) approached a man who was en route to his home in the vicinity of Plaisance, East Coast Demerara (ECD) and held him at gun-point.

An alarm was made as the ex policeman attempted to execute the robbery. Police patrol ranks who were on duty responded promptly to the scene of the crime.

INews understands that the bandit brandished a firearm pointing it in the direction of the ranks. The police subsequently opened fire on him injuring him in the process. Even though the perpetrator was injured, he managed to speed away in his car. However, due to the severity of his wound(s) his vehicle crashed into a koker at the Vryheid’s Lust village, ECD.

When police ranks rushed out of their patrol car and went to render assistance as well as arrest the man, they realised that he was already dead.

The ranks were able to retrieve the gun which the ex policeman had in his possession. Investigations into the matter are on-going.

We use to play police and thief as kids, but I never heard about police and police thief. Today, everyone seem to forget that ex-policemen, ex-soldiers and ex-teachers, etc., have all been involved in arm robbery. Crime is taking a toll on every front in Guyana and no one don't really cares. There is no difference between police and thieves.
