EXCLUSIVE: Newt Gingrich: If Trump Wins Big in Florida, They Won’t Be Able to Stop Him

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich tells Breitbart News that if Donald Trump wins big in Florida today, the party “won’t be able to stop him.”

“If Trump gets big numbers in Florida, you’re not going to be able to stop him. You’ll just tear the party apart,” he said.

“If Trump wins Florida by the margin anticipated, then [Sen. Marco] Rubio could stay in just to affect the numbers, but he won’t be a serious candidate anymore,” Gingrich said.

Gingrich is watching Florida closely, but he’s also looking at Ohio, where his former House Budget chairman John Kasich is looking to get a win to keep himself alive going into the convention, amid pressure from Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX)97%
.

“If Kasich wins Ohio, he could certainly stay in and be part of a potential negotiating block,” Gingrich said. “But in five Ohio counties, 20 percent of the voters are people who voted in the Democratic primary in the past. That is very, very good for Trump.”

Gingrich threw cold water all over the idea of a brokered convention, which Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol has been plotting. If no candidate gets 50 percent of the delegates on the first ballot, then on the second ballot the pledged delegates can become “un-pledged” and support whomever the party bosses tell them to support.

“It’s childish nonsense,” Gingrich said. “There are two potential presidential nominees. One is named Donald. One is named Ted. The idea that some clever Washington intellectual or power broker — put quote marks around ‘power broker’— can step into an election in which millions have voted and magically change the trajectory of history? It’s goofy. There’s two players standing.”

Gingrich speculated that Trump and Cruz might actually form an alliance, similar to how they did in the early days of the campaign, in order to prevent a brokered convention at the last minute.

“If Trump is at 45 percent does he negotiate with Cruz?”

“They will band together and have 85 percent of the delegates between them,” Gingrich said. “Both of these guys are committed to breaking up the old order.”

“How is somebody who’s never run going to stand up on national television and on social media [as the brokered candidate] and not get run out of town?” Gingrich said, referring to a potential Mitt Romney, who could walk onstage at the convention after a backroom deal.

Gingrich’s statement to this reporter in December that “the country is in rebellion” and that Trump can kick down the doors — which was recently cited by Trump-supporter Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)80%
at the National Press Club — went viral and helped to cement Trump’s position as a formidable Republican candidate ahead of the Iowa caucus.

Early exit polls Tuesday showed Trump taking a commanding lead over Rubio and Cruz in Florida.

Kasich did win his home state Ohio.  I think he would be a good running mate with Trump for that VP position.  Trump has to pick a Washington insider.

Bibi it will be Trump as President and Kasich as Vice President.

You are rather naive. Kasich will never be Trump's running mate. Further, he has to hope Cruz is willing to play or he is not getting the nomination. Chances are he will be the runner up to Cruz on the ticket if he does not want to be completely booted. Then comes the trouncing at the polls by Hillary.

Trump is the TOP Republican candidate for the Presidency. Yes TOP.

I never said he would disappear. I said I do not worry about the big fat liar  and his fanciful tales about excellence and promise to make america what it was...I guess he means Jim Crow. I said he will lose by as much as 16 points to Hillary who I predict will be the nominee.  He is at the top of a woefully fractured party; one that does not want hide or hair of his fake tan, yellow hair or loud mouth. With him or without him the GOP loses and if he is the Candidate the down tickets will also cascade to the democrats...some 26 congressional seats and at least six senatorial seats. It means Hillary gets a free ride to do all she wants

There is something known as the Democratic Primary elections taking place Yuji. Believe it or not Hillary (4.8 million) has gotten more votes than Donald Trump (4.2 million) in the voting so far. And of course there hase been more Republican Primary voters in 2016 than Democratic Primary voters.

Let's not get carried away. If the Donald wins 51% of the Republican voters, which is unlikely and we may have a brokered GOP convention, Hillary will win about 80% of the Democratic Primary voters. She will end up with more votes than Donald.

Then comes the General elections - mano-a-mano. We know that if we get the mean of turnouts of thew last 4 elections the GOP chances are toast as the demographics have moved in favor of the Democrats. I usually give the GOP and Dems 40% of the actual voters each. It's the other 20% thaty the battle is being waged. And enough of those 20% voted Barack Obama to give him the electoral college votes he needed.

So Yuji, stop getting int o a hissy fit over Trump as President. Wait until after the conventions are over in the summer. Look at the polls in the fall and look at the Electoral College votes predictions. We know this - The Dems will take California's 55, New York's 29, Washington and Oregon's 19 and the 4 mid-west states of Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin's 56. That's 159 already in the race to 270. The GOP can count on Texas's 38 and the Bible belt's 66. That's 104. Florida (29) and Pennsylvania (20) - are toss-ups and tell me if a Trump candidacy will beat Hillary in these two states. The rest of the country's electoral college votes give the Dems a majority. So if we put Yuji as the Democratic nominee e beats Trump. It's that simple.

You just tout the Liberal media, you and them said umteem times he crossed the line, end of Trump.  Personally, I also thought he did after the McCain comments, but no!  I never thought any of the other things would have, though some did!  Baseman said, very early on several occasions, Trump will cause a political rockus!

Once again, if he comes in with 1000, I don't see how hey can deny him the head of the ticket!  After that, game on!!!

Actually, the greatest asset to Trump is Obama!  Things are a mess all around!  His biggest accomplishments, Iran and Cuba, albeit good, were not near and dear on voters minds!

Obamaites will stay at home as they are out of work and struggling and Hillary is uninspiring!  the vast white middle will give Trump a chance if he has a good running mate.  Trump will stuff his team with many business notables and political insiders and people will say, what the heck, if they can back him, why should we not?

Trump is coming across stupid in the minds of the political elite class and the Liberals, but he knows what he is doing!  He is playing to the sentiment just below the surface which no political hag dared to touch!!  He can do this because he is not at the beck and call of big donors!

So, all alyuh back pocket Arithmeticians counting alyuh chickens based on precedent well, wake up, this is unprecedented!

The only thing unprecedented is that his party did not take him out for being an ass immediately when he began being thuggish and crude. Well they got what they tolerated and now are having chronic buyers remorse.

Hillary is keeping close to Obama for good reasons. He was good for the nation regardless what the republicans say. That he did not play their game and be all cozy cozy with patting their backs and kissing their rings may have lost him compromise on important issues but that was not his way.

He believed they would do their duty. He set the ground for Hillary and she will be better at what he wanted them he was and all to the benefit of the nation.
