Father of 2 jumps to death

…children banned from attending funeral

A Fifth Street, Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara resident died after he jumped over the seawall in the village.
Dead is Alberto De Jesus, 30.
Relatives told Guyana Times that the father of two children begun acting in a strange manner last Thursday before running to the seawall and jumping over.
His wife, Felisha Ramzan, told this publication that on the morning of the incident, her husband started acting in a “weird” manner and she told him she would take him to the hospital because something seemed amiss.
“He started talking to himself and so I’ve never seen him behave like this so I told him to get dressed, I’m taking him to the hospital,” she said.
Ramzan added that as they were ready to go to the hospital, she left her husband standing at the gate and returned inside to close a door, and when she returned she noticed him running toward the seawall.
“I see him running and I started to scream and all the neighbours came out and started running behind him but he jumped over. I see he went down like three times,” the distraught woman said.

Dead: Alberto De Jesus

She related that police were immediately called to the scene and boatmen working nearby took him out of the water and made unsuccessful efforts to revive him.
“Police patrol from BV Station come…They carry he Georgetown Hospital where he pronounce dead,” the woman added.
The woman further said that a post-mortem examination was performed and revealed that he died from drowning.
However, the woman told this publication that in her grief, more worries have been piled on as her husband’s body was removed without her consent and knowledge. She said that after probing as to who collected her husband’s body she was told that his mother went and claimed the body.
She claimed that as a result of this, she and her children were banned by her husband’s family from going to his funeral. The grieving widow said that her children will not be able to see their father one last time, adding that it is causing her much distress.
“Our children and I should be allowed at the funeral. I am begging the social service or police to come and intervene in this matter. These people are taking advantage on me,” she cried.

The police should intervene and stop this horrible family from preventing the man's wife from his funural. Actually, the have no such right and I bet it is a money thing where she is helpless to seek justice. This family is simply atrocious!

Guyana need a spiritual healing, religious leaders and village elderly need to step up.

- Children killing parent.

- Father injured his pregnant daughter.

- Father and son kill neighbour

- Citizens attack police officers

- Father kill son.

etc

We are only reading what the media published but it’s 10 times worst.

In GT, if you hit someone with your car, drive to the police station ( don’t wait) ... the crowd that gather, beat the hell out of you.. though you may not be at fault, and your vehicle is looted.

This could be a case that the deceased mother believes the wife may have caused her son to run off and commit suicide. People in Guyana still believe in superstition.   Trinidad is worst when it comes to giving men/women geera.

Once the man is married, his mother has no right to dictate to his wife or children blaming them for anything. He did this on his own. Nobody forced him to commit suicide. It's like saying "da bai tief dah gyal and karry am away"." Like the woman was forced in a rice bag and taken away.

Why a mother cannot act out her grievance for her dead son? If what I assumed is true, the deceased man's mother should give consideration to her grandkids but not to the DIL. If the wife true intention is to damage the man life, why would she care to see him when he is dead.
