FIRST IT WAS CONTRACT WORKERS THEN SUGAR WORKERS; ARE YOU PREPARED TO WAIT TO FIND OUT WHO ELSE IS NEXT?

The tremendous outpouring of expressions of displeasure by public servants yesterday thwarted the AFC in its bid to make sizeable cuts to the 2012 Budget. It also averted putting hundreds out of jobs and a reversal of the steady economic progress  made as a result of prudent management of the economy by successive PPP/C administrations since 1992.

It is this kind of steadfastness which is once again needed to ensure the survival of the sugar industry. Thousands of Guyanese earn a living from the sugar industry, the existence of which is being threatened by the AFC's opposition to government's $4B bail out. GUYSUCO already has had to grapple with production shortages owing to the AFC's manipulation of the sentiments of sugar workers. And now the party which projects itself as being the guardians of these very workers are instead trying to put them out of jobs in a manner that is similar to their assault on public servants.

Put a halt to this assault on the working class by making your displeasure known.
REBROADCAST this message on Blackberry Messenger, Facebook, Twitter and everywhere else so that Guyanese will be alert and prepared to act against the AFC's war on the working class. First it was contract workers now sugar workers; are you prepared to wait to find out who else is next?

This is indeed war against the working class in the guise of cutting waste. Shame on the AFC. Shame for turning against the working class of Guyanese.

Dr Jagan dedicated his life in serving for and fighting for the working class. I guess that the PPP is now listening to Nadira and returning to grass root politics.

Put the people first.
