Mrs. Ihsanoglu met the First Lady at State House, in Georgetown, in the presence of members of the First Lady Foundation. The former is in Guyana with her husband on a two-day visit, their first official visit here.

Mrs. Ihsanoglu told this newspaper that the OIC will definitely be co-operating with this country on future projects. She found the people here very warm and quite hospitable. “We had a wonderful time,” she said.

Mrs. Ramotar invited the eight members of her foundation so that they could have the opportunity to chat with Mrs. Ihsanoglu.

Earlier yesterday, President Donald Ramotar presented Mr. Ihsanoglu with a plaque in recognition of his outstanding and dedicated work.

Mr. Ihsanoglu has been the OIC Secretary General since 2005, and has gained recognition for his contributions to scholarly debates on intercultural dialogues, and the transformation of the 57-member state organisation to a more effective body.
