Today is a heavenly day. I do not want to start cussing this early.  I will say this; I did take the time to look at the video. It is a wonderful presentation but it speaks to exactly what bothers me often with these rationalizations. Worse, this one begins with the usual lie. The Koran has no prescriptions for the hijab. That is interpretation with ideological ornamentation.

It is an adopted head gear and was worn by everyone in the region for protections against the dust and heat for eons. That it is now used to represent "us muslims" ,the truth tellers and honest dependable workers ( who are made so by Islam) from them, "the undependable others" is bunk. Honesty does not need a garb and not wearing  a designated one does not mean one will gravitate to criminality and licentious behavior. That speaks to the insidious aspects of indoctrination.

I think the hijab, shalwar etc are fine accessories for women. I however refuse to acknowledge it has any special virtue-granting properties as this lady attributed to it. When that it is attached, it takes on an aspect we know so well; that of a fabric wall which which continues into an ideological wall that seeks to make women separate, distinct and not like men. I take any such patterns of behavior as gravely injurious to women. Note, some Christians also carry this obnoxious bias.

And this is what it has become in many Muslim countries especially, a barrier, a debasing one that affirms women are lesser than men.  Even in western countries we have Muslim parents shunning their kids and fanatical morons harassing them in the streets and public places when the decide to leave the ideologically accessories of the faith behind and opt to carrying that faith in their hearts as enough.

Do atheists believe in "heavenly days"?

Just an insider understanding, the lady wrote that song for her dog! Us atheists take the metaphysical attributions and give it real world existence ie a heavenly body on a chick, a heavenly smile and a heavenly meal. Here the lady sings of how wonderful it is to just be in the world in peace on a walk with her beloved pet.
