This boy ought to be playing with his toys and learning his ABCs and enjoying a childhood. Instead he is caught up in a Dickensian world whee he must earn his keep at the risk of his life.

 

With poor families struggling for survival, many youths in Berbice have started to work at an early age mostly in risky conditions “to make ends meet” and some end up losing their lives.
