Internet news site Inews reported last evening that a car belonging to Company Secretary of the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC), Jacy Archibald was broken into and the perpetrator's only interest was in a laptop containing files belonging to the GFC. The incident is reported to have taken place in the vicinity of Thomas Lands, Georgetown.
The news site said a window of the car was smashed in order for the perpetrator/s to gain entry and despite the presence of other valuables only the laptop which contains vital information on the GFC was stolen. It also said that a number of other GFC staff have been targeted and even threatened in recent days and this comes as the Commission has had to aggressively defend its operations in the face of a politically driven campain against several Chinese investors being led by the Kaieteur and Stabroek News.
