Ex-cop among five remanded

  • gang was nabbed with unlicensed gun, wig, crowbar

A group of five alleged bandits, one of whom is an ex-police officer, were on Monday remanded to prison when they appeared at the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court to answer to three separate charges, each.

Trevon McKenzie, a 29-year-old ex-police officer of Glasgow Housing Scheme; Michael Embrac, 33; Mickey Henry, 27; Jason Archer, 26, all of Berbice; and Sean Brown, 22, of Dazzel Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara were allowed to plead to the three indictable charges when it was read to them.

The court heard that the men were being charged with the possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of live ammunition and having in their possession a crowbar, screw driver and wig without a valid reason.

On May 8, 2017, at around 01:30 hrs, while patrolling an area along the East Bank of Berbice public road, police noticed a white motorcar being driven slowly on the Glasgow Public Road. Acting on instinct, the ranks stopped and searched the  vehicle, which led to the discovery of a firearm, crowbar, screw driver, wig and ammunition.

The five men are expected to re-appear in court on June 2, 2017.

Another PNC fundraising team takes a hit.

What you are seeing is what Jackass Granger is tolerating, the buck stops at his desk.

They are dictators, opinion does not matter anymore. Guyanese will have to close their noses and tolerate them until 2020.

Nothing will change under the PNC, they cannot evolve as a party, it is part of their DNA.

Yuji, the government have ministries with ministers to run different departments within the govt.. This is under Ramjattan's watch. We should focus on him and and his promise to weed out rough cops and to severely prosecute Ex-cops for getting into arm gangs to terrorize citizens.

I'm yet to see real statistics on crime in Guyana. I would like to see a report on the number of crimes by categories, number of arrests, number of charges, convictions, acquittals, and crimes of which no arrests were made.  Unsolved crimes --- do we know this figure?

None is presented, only percentage drop or increases, seems like GPF don't have a database.
