Cheddi Jagan had misplaced faith in British justice.
Jagan felt that Britain would do, in the end what was right. Jagan's bottom line was that Guyana should trust the British to be honest brokers for a peaceful solution.
Jagan at the time however was totally unaware that the US President John F Kennedy was applying extensive pressure on the British to rig an election victory for Forbes Burnham.
