The Guyana Boxing Association has appointed a five-man Disciplinary Committee tasked with reviewing all reported acts of indiscipline within the fraternity and recommending appropriate penalties. GBA president Steve Ninvalle yesterday announced that the committee comprises two members of his executive, two experienced coaches and one referee/judge.

The chairman of the committee is GBA vice president Gordon Nedd who is also a captain in the Guyana Defence Force. Nedd would be assisted by Vice Chairman Clifton Moore, a coach attached to the Essequibo Gym, Three Star coach Sebert Blake, former Vice Chairman of the Referee/Judges Commission Elton Chase and the GBA Assistant Secretary Treasurer Stacy Corriea.

The committee would serve for a two year period and according to Ninvalle will hit the road running. β€œA well rounded team that is capable of getting the job done. There is no doubt in my mind that they will act without fear or favour,” Ninvalle declared.

The committee’s first case would be one brought against Kevin Allicock by secretary of the Barbados Boxing Association Kathy Harper-Hall.

Following the conclusion of the Caribbean Development Tournament, the BBA secretary documented her concerns to the GBA president. In a lengthy report Harpy-Hall highlighted two incidents of indiscipline against the Guyana camp with one being Allicock’s behaviour after receiving his silver medal.
