GBBC officials rescind controversial Keeve Allicock/Anthony Narine decision

When Keeve Allicock faced off with debutant, Anthony Narine in one of the preliminary bouts of the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) boxing card at the Giftland Mall on Saturday 27th August, the latter pugilist was awarded the bout after the former was deemed to have contravened the rules.
Allicock and Narine may just have to square off once again to determine the better boxer.
A disgruntled Allicock had exited the ring and complained bitterly of being ‘done in.’ Nevertheless, the GBBC officials explained that they were simply applying the rules. However, despite not being in receipt of a complaint by the affected boxer, officials have decided to have a second look at the bout in an effort to review the decision and have discovered that Narine was also in the wrong.
A release from the GBBC explained that, “Mr. Allicock has been disqualified by the referee for an illegal blow thrown following the referee’s clear and distinct instruction to stop the action.” The release further explains that, “A subsequent review of the recording of the fight has yielded that Mr. Allicock’s illegal blow was in response to one delivered by Mr. Narine, also thrown after the referee had called a halt to the action and which in consequence, was also illegal.”
The release further explains that since Allicock suffered disqualification for his infraction, Narine has been penalized similarly and the bout, initially awarded to Narine, is officially deemed a ‘No Contest.’
