Quincy Ovid-Richardson belted six fours and three sixes in a shot-filled 54 after off-spinner Gajanan Suknanan had taken six wickets the lead GNIC to a five-wicket victory over GDF at Everest in fading light yesterday.

David Dick was dismissed for 73 yesterday.

In GDF’s first innings, David Rajmangal made 51 while Terry Fraser was the other batsman to reach 20 with 27. Pacer Keon Sinclair (4-37) and former Test off spinner Clyde Butts, who at 60 is the oldest first division player in Guyana, took 3-34.
GNIC began the final day on 125-3 and were dismissed for 169 with 38 year-old David Dick leading the way with 73 as Jerimiah Harris had 5-32 to give the Army a four-run lead and first innings points.
GDF fell for 173 in their second innings with Damien Waldron (40), Leon Andrews (30) and Dexter Soloman (25) leading the way. Off spinner Gajanan Suknanan had 6-54, his third six-wicket haul in four innings. He was supported by Keon Sinclair (2-42).
Set 178 to win from 28 overs, GINC reached 180-5 when Suknanan (6) hit the winning boundary in near darkness after Harris was removed from the attack and five penalty runs were awarded to GNIC for time wasting with them on 171-5.
Ovid-Richardson got support from Jermaine Grovesnor who ended unbeaten on 40, Jason George (25) and Dick (17). Harris and Andrews had two wickets each.
This was GNIC’s last game and now awaits the results of UG against TSC encounter to know if they have reached the semi-finals. UG have already qualified for the Semis.
