The Guyana Cricket Board has observed a series of releases emanating from a source called “stakeholders of Berbice Cricket”, which have been given wide publicity by the Guyana Chronicle.
“The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) would like to make it clear that only the Berbice Cricket Board is authorised to organise cricket in the County of Berbice under the overriding authority of the Guyana Cricket Board,” a release from the GCB stated.
“All entities seeking to organise any form off cricket, outside of the pre-approved list of cricket, must seek approval before any such game or competition is launched or advertised. It is illegal to collect money from sponsors for cricket which is not approved. It is also mandatory that all funding provided be properly accounted for and audited. The process for seeking approval can be found on the WICB website,” the release informed.
It further stated, “The cricketing public should be aware that a charity called Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, which lists its parent body as St. Francis developers, is not a member of the BCB as per the BCB Constitution appended to the Cricket Administration Act 14 of 2014.
Further, the Guyana Cricket Board hereby informs sponsors, cricket clubs, cricket administrators and fans of Berbice cricket that Mr. Dhieranidranauth Samaroo is currently the President of the Berbice Cricket Board and should, along with his executives, be the point of contact for all matters relating to cricket in the county of Berbice.”
“We take this opportunity to also inform the public that Ms. Angela Hannif has converted office space of the BCB to her personal use…. In the meantime, the BCB Office is located at 8-5 St Ann’s Street, New Amsterdam,” the GCB release informed.
