They did not need radar, it landed in front of them.  They should have at least challenge them as to who they are and what they are doing there.  It probably was a stray, but also they could have been testing the GDF readiness.  They found them sleeping with their eyes open!!

Kaikan is amerindian territory. No soldiers was there or needs to be there. A bunch of native women were the only ones there. I know the village since I have been there many times. My mom if from there and most of the people there are relatives. They are at ease with Venezuelans as they are with Guyanese since many have family across the border. They also trade with Venezuelans. As I said, even if the soldiers were there they would have had to be stupid as you are to fire on a military helicopter.
