Geocom has announced, not the government.
If people were registered to and voted only 6 months ago, how can there be unpreparedness now? One would think that they should be even more prepared now than later when they would need to update their records since some may move to other regions.
Today's SN repote that the minister Bulkan said LGE will be held before end of the first quarter. I think he is really dreaming because I do not see how they can get the demarcation and other procedures done in time.
Today's SN repote that the minister Bulkan said LGE will be held before end of the first quarter. [LGE is feasible by March monthend. The government will deliver its budget in early March with attractive salary increases and tax exemptions and lower commodity prices for things like oil and agricultural machinery.]
I think he is really dreaming because I do not see how they can get the demarcation and other procedures done in time. [As GECOM says, LGE will be held in 9 towns and 62 NDCs which have already been identified. Their boundaries/demarcation were fixed years ago.]
I have read somewhere, I cannot remember where, the demarcation fixed years ago will be out of date because of the growth in some communities, new communities, land settlement Schemes. Please correct me if I am incorrect.

Actually, many of those new communities/housing schemes are situated within the already established NDC boundaries. What took place was a shift of people from one NDC jurisdiction to another. The final list of electors for the May 11 elections has incorporated the people affected. GECOM's job is to compile its 62 NDC and 9 Town lists from that database. Of course, as in the preparations for general elections, there will be a Claims and Objections period to straighten out kinks.

Thanks. Makes sense.
