A massive invasion of the Paediatric Ward of the Georgetown Hospital has forced authorities to relocate that facility temporarily until the pests are eradicated, the health care facility said Friday.

“Due to heavy rainfall there has been an alleged invasion of German Cockroaches in the Paediatrics Ward,” the hospital said in statement.

The ward has been relocated to the old Obstetrics and Gynaecology clinic area for the weekend. “This move is to facilitate the extermination of these pests,” the GPHC added.

The hospital assured that the temporary shift would in no way affect their treatment protocols.

GPHC said it sincerely apologised to the children and their parents who would be affected but that was a necessary activity.
