Second round play in the GFF/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 Intra Association League continued this past weekend in a number of associations across Guyana. Matches were contested in East Demerara and East Coast associations, one each, while four were played in the Georgetown association, all on Saturday.
At the Golden Grove ground, Mahaica Determinators took care of business against Plaisance Panthers by a 2-0 margin, Kareem Pitt in the 6th and Orland Adams 50th minute saw their team to victory.
Up at the Grove Playfield on the East Bank of Demerara, Kuru Kururu Warriors behind a brace of goals from Junior Persaud (7th, 21st minute) got the better of Diamond United, 2-0. And in the City at the Tucville Playfield, Santos, Alpha United and Georgetown Football Club all took full points in their respective matches, while Fruta Conquerors were held to a 0-0 stalemate by Eastveldt.
Santos thumped Order and Discipline 6-0 on account of goals from Eon Adams in the 5th and 24th minute, Kevon Mullin netted in the 10th, Zafir Brown added his name to the score sheet in the 21st, Rashad Roberts followed suit in the 35th, while Naseem Algernon sealed the deal in the 50th minute.
Alpha United came from behind to defeat Pele 2-1. Pele had taken the lead on 18 minutes when Christopher Camacho found the back of the nets. Alpha then drew level thanks to a John McKenzie’s 29th minute effort before the winner was blasted in off the boot of Ramsey Ryan in the 36th minute.
Camptown were no match for Georgetown Football Club which hammered them 3-0. Rondell Peters scored twice, in the 24th and 47th minute, while Randy Leshawn put the icing on the cake in the 41st minute.
