Pouderoyen FC is back in pole position on the points table following their 3-0 win over Uitvlugt Warriors on Sunday last when round two play in the West Demerara Football Association leg of the GFF/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 Intra Association League continued at the Den Amstel ground. The tournament’s leading goal scorer, Keanu Lawrence continued his aptitude for scoring against all opposition by hitting in a double which has now taken his tally to 19 in the league, Pouderoyen recording their fifth win whilst also keeping their unbeaten record intact. They have taken over the top spot from the other unbeaten team, Eagles Football Club of Stewartville. Lawrence breached the Uitvlugt Warriors backline in the 11th and 60th minutes, the other goal was scored by Shamar Thomas in the 17th minute of the Uitvlugt shutout. Opening play on Sunday saw Wales United notching their second win in six outings with a 2-1 win over Jetty Gunners which lost their fifth match. Wales scored all the goals, Shaquille Dos Santos’ 24th minute strike being an own goal which gifted Jetty Gunners their lone strike of the match. That goal would have cancelled out Wales’ opening goal from Dan Boston on 15 minutes. But the lead was retaken for good with Shumar Brian’s 36th minute strike as neither team were able to trouble the score thereafter. Four matches are scheduled for Sunday at the same venue from 09:00hrs. Eagles will match skills with Crane Rovers followed by a clash between Uitvlugt Warriors and Wales United from 11:00hrs. Golden Warriors and Jetty Gunners will take center stage from 13:00hrs before the big clash between Pouderoyen and Den Amstel at 15:00hrs.
