New kids on the block, Swan FC, a neighbouring village to Kuru Kururu on the Linden Soesdyke Highway, posted their fourth win from seven matches yesterday via a 1-0 margin over Soesdyke Falcons when day 12 of action in the GFF/Pele Alumini Frank Watson U15 Intra Association League continued at the Timehri Red Ground.
Netting the golden goal in the feature match which brought full points for Swan and took them to 5th place in the 12-team competition was Kevin Daniels in the 17th minute of a match that the Swan lads dominated and squandered at least four other opportunities.
They were however able to stave off the threats from Soesdyke to walk away with full points as they continue to enjoy a good debut season.
Timehri Panthers carved out their fifth win in six matches with a single loss when they took care of business against Diamond Upsetters, 3-0. This win was orchestrated by Ishmael Pulsarran who tucked in a double in the 28th and 34th minutes. Selwyn Barrow sealed the win with a goal of his own in the 38th minute.
The loss for Upsetters was their fourth in eight matches along with three wins and a draw.
Kuru Kururu Warriors continued their rich vein of form with a 6-0 whipping of Diamond United; their fifth win in seven matches was achieved through strikes off the boot of Shaquille Agard (11), Colin Charles (12), Devon Scott (26), Apata Reid (45), Ravi John Fredericks (49) and Dwight Noble in the 53rd minute.
The league’s most offensive team Herstelling Raiders, led by the tournament’s joint highest goal scorer, Shoran James (15) were held to a 2-2 draw by Samatta Point Kaneville, the latter team missed a penalty in the dying stages of the match which would have seen taken them to victory.
The diminutive James, netted in the 13th minute to hand his side the early advantage and bring him back level on 15 goals along with Agricola Red Triangle’s Brian Lambert. That lead was doubled four minutes later when James’ teammate, Solomon Austin rocked the back of the nets.
Herstelling were sitting comfortable up until the 33rd minute when Samatta Point landed their first goal of the match through Jadon Forthe’s effort. It was Forthe’ 56th minute goal which also brought the Samatta Points boys back on even terms with Herstelling, both teams walked away with a point each.
Four more matches would be contested today at the same venue, match day #13. Mocha Champs will open against Friendship from 09:30hrs followed by Timehri Panthers facing Diamond United at 11:00hrs. Next up would be Grove Hi Tech against Soesdyke with the feature match of the day between Kuru Kururu Warriors and Diamond Upsetters.
