The Guyana Football Federation Inc. (GFF) prepared for the launch of Guyana’s first national youth football academy and development programme in this with important consultations involving its nine regional Member Associations (MAs).

The first consultation was held on Friday, 27th with the Executive Committee of the East Bank Demerara Football Association (EBDFA).
The first planning consultation saw GFF’s Technical Director Ian Greenwood and GFF

Executive Committee Member Keith Ojeer introduced the new regional development team, outlined the aims of the academy system, and discussed how the GFF would support and work alongside the association to ensure success.

The academy will be built on a network of trained Technical Development Officers (TDOs) in each of the nine MAs, tasked with identifying and coaching talented young male and female players in a nationally-coordinated system.

Further meetings are planned for each MA as the youth programme rolls out across the country.

The programme, with a scheduled launch of February 2, builds on GFF leadership’s manifesto pledges to nurture young talent more effectively, build national partnerships for development, and improve the prospects of young players.

β€œThe GFF is committed to developing and investing in youth football in every region of the country. It is crucial that we support and work with each of our Member Associations in this coordinated way to deliver better results for everyone in football,” said GFF President Wayne Forde.
