The GHRA has added its voice to the chorus of those seeking to use the Colwyn Harding allegations to fan the flames of hatred. In its latest pronouncement it is calling for an inquiry using fresh allegations made by Harding’s imprisoned girl friend and an associate as justification. The GHRA ignores the fact that a file with the completed police investigation is currently before the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) and this call seems to be an attempt to prejudice the outcome of any decision to be made. The GHRA is often accused of acting only in the interest of one side of the political divide and such growing concerns are further underlined by its selectiveness when pronouncing on issues of human rights.
Where was the GHRA when the people of Lusignan were murdered in their beds? Where were its calls for an inquiry when it was revealed Nigel Hughes, whilst providing pro-bono defense for one of the Lusignan massacre accused, failed to disclose his relationship with the jury foreman during the trial?
