You, Django and Riya posted the answers very quickly.  Anyway, he was a journalist in Guyana, very well-read and knows almost everything about Guyana.

This is very sad. I hope he recovers and return to GNI. We've lost Mara, Jalil, and another one whose name I can't remember at this time.

Stroke, heart attacks, and complications from diabetes are taking a toll on lives of Guyanese, especially Indo-Guyanese.  We need to educate ourselves more about the benefits of exercise and diet in combating these health problems.

Billy, so true. My Dr did a research on the RH Community at my Health Center and gave our warnings about the diet and lack of exercise he heard about.

Tennis rolls, salara, regular Bread, Roti, sugar cake and other stuff. When he interviewed the older people many told him they eat Rice and Roti, he has to ask me what is roti. He said it is just another form of bread.

I have started to eat brown Biriani Rice and whole wheat roti.

Simple starch breaks down rapidly to sugar in the small intestines. Fiber rich foods takes a long time to break down and absorbed into the blood. The human body cannot digest fiber. To prevent a blood sugar spike one has to eat a smaller portion of complex carb. Eliminate regular sodas (Liquid candies) and increase your consumption of cruciferous vegetables.

What?? This is so disheartening as Gilly and I earned each other’s respects on GNI.  He was a wealth of knowledge. His experience is unmatched. I truly wish him all the best and even though he is in such poor health. I pray for a miracle to happen. Please keep us posted on his condition.

And how are you keeping?

Getting better slowly. Peeping in from time to time and making a contribution to GNI has helped me passing the time. Lost a lot of muscles though. Thank you for asking.Don...continue to stay positive and get as mair....summer is here...you can do it.

Hang in there Don...

Best wishes to Uncle Bookman/Gilly, keep flipping those pages...the best is yet to come..

My old villager, maybe ,he is the only one on GNI who knows me and my family.

I would like to wish him a speedy recovery and my prayers are with the family.

From the little he told me, he lives in East Scarborough, Ontario, he had promised to meet and share an old single malt scotch with me, well, Big Fish just keep on swimming and keep on breathing , we are all here for you. One for all, All for ONE.
