What original sin are they guilty of?

 You had me up to the end of the second sentence then you fell off the cliff with the children of god stuff. The adjudication of law and the preserve ration of the rule of law is overseen by the administration in their social contract with the people.

That prohibits usurpation of liberty and or injury to citizens except in precisely defined circumstances and under the administration of trained and well informed specialists.

That is why we have doctors performing surgery and rules as to who and when a person can be held in custody. It has nothing to do with god or deserving. It has to do with duty and obligation.
