I spoke to a few friends in Guyana over the weekend and they say everything is quiet and everyone had a traditional Guyanese XMas.
On the political front they are saying that President Ramotar seems to be in control and APNU's leader is acting very mature with dealing with certain issues.

Hopefully the PPP Gov't can correct some of the mistakes that Jagdeo made and they can evolve into being more accountable and be fair to everyone regardless of color or party affiliation.
Merry xmas to one and and all , I was very busy and had no time to read nor post since elections.

How can they claim Ramotar has any control when he has deferred parliament and is yet to have a speaker selected. We will see who has the upper hand next year. To this point the PPP understands they have to compromise ant that is the only display of
control" Ramotar has displayed,.

Guyanese ar ebusy opening barrels and eating black cake.

We will see how things progress after the New Year.

In fact I would think many politicians are out of the country partying overseas with family during the holidays. Isn't that why parliament is defered?

Nuff,

there is merit in Chief's posting.

I was in Guyana last weekend, there is calm and quietness. But there is a need for more of the Christmas spirit that we are familiar with and have accepted as norm.

I don't disagree with Chief. What I an saying is that around christmas a holiday most guyanese embrace I see no need for violence or parliament meeting. Even the US congress is on break.

Let's wait till parliament convenes next year to see just how cordial the sessions with opposition and ruling party turn out. I expect heated debate.

Lets hope the goodwill of the season prevail into 2012. Both Granger and President Ramotar has a duty to put country first before partisan politics. Mr Granger is not a dunce he holds a Masters and so far he has demonstrated that he has a good head on his shoulder.

Rama you are out of touch. These same canecuttahs vote for the PPP. Some are much more educated that you. Unlike you, they are very much family oriented and industrious. They have something which you lack and that's common sense.

I passed around Congress Place and Main Street around 6.30 last evening and there was a vast different in crowds. Some vendors were already packing up their merchandise to leave from Main street. Vendors were actually heading to Sophia. I have no political motives, so I would not lie about Main Street being a bust.

Of course if Ramotar is smart and includes them in the Budget and other aspects of governance this will not happen.

Mashramani celebrates the Republic, an event the PNC was very involved in creating. They cant back out of it.
