The Liza Destiny

The Ministry of Natural Resources says that the government is “highly disappointed” at ExxonMobil’s failure to resolve a gas compressor problem on its oil platform that has led to flaring of gas and a steep drop in production.

As a result of the most recent setback in the repair of the compressor, ExxonMobil has been forced to cut oil production from 120,000 barrels per day to 30,000 barrels per day.

In a statement last night, the ministry said the government is “currently examining the implications of the loss of output, and consequently loss of income and revenue, including measures that it may have to institute to protect national interest”.  It did not elaborate further.

The statement said that on Sunday, April 11, 2021, the Government of Guyana (GoG) was notified of an unexpected issue arising with the discharge silencer of the Flash Gas Compressor (FGC). The statement noted that the FGC and its associated components were recently reinstalled on April 2 and undergoing post installation tests. Presently, the ministry statement said that the FGC remains offline and production and flaring volumes are being closely monitored.

Last night’s statement was the first official government response to the compressor problem since its notification on Sunday.

The statement went on to add that the Ministry is “nonetheless pleased to note that this occurrence has not affected GoG’s crude oil lift which was safely and successfully completed yesterday at the planned quantity and in keeping with the Crude Lifting Agreement and Lifting Schedule. This was the GoG’s second lift for 2021.

The statement said that ExxonMobil’s subsidiary, Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Ltd (EEPGL), along with its contractors SBM and MAN Energy Solutions are actively investigating the failure and assessing repair requirements.

“The Government, through the Ministry of Natural Resources, Guyana Geology and Mines Commission, and the Environmental Protection Agency, has been receiving regular updates since this matter has arisen and has met with EEPGL today to discuss EEPGL’s findings and plans for the expeditious resolution of this issue.

“The GoG is, as would be expected, highly disappointed with the Operator’s inability to resolve this situation to date and will continue to monitor the levels of daily crude oil output and flaring to best allow for an economically feasible level of production during this period. The GoG is currently examining the implications of the loss of output, and consequently loss of income and revenue, including measures that it may have to institute to protect national interest”, the statement said.

The Problem happened in the middle of the Atlantic. The Government Critique is unfair. It would a lot of time to fix that problem.

What action can they take ? have they spent any money to extract the oil ? it appears there is a design flaw with the compressor.

Definitely, the compressor will have to be replaced. That means ordering a new one. How long will that take is anybody's guess. The Guyana Government does not have to spend any money to extract oil. Exxon is paying royalty to extract oil and gas. Without spending a cent Guyana is getting rich.

Is the gas going to serve the needs of the cars and trucks and nascent industries that need the refined products of oil or are you going to continue to import those? Oil has ever been a tool in war as well peace! Let Jagdeo repay Exxon some other way! He.is serving them, not the people of Guyana and its government! Climate change is a hoax to serve the already developed countries that don' t want underveloped countries giving them competition! Just continue serving them with.cheap labour in their branch factories! Who started with the pollution? Are either China or India paying attention to this BS? There has always been climate changing! Remember how the oil.embargo got Guyana and other third world countries into debt! Want to.continue depending on these con artists? Do you think they are concerned about any climate change? Why do their oil companies keep searching for more sources of oil? Wake up, you sleeping slaves and smell the tricks of these charlatans! They stink of oil! And shut up, you PPP kunt!

They don't take advice from gripers on GNI. China and India are not in play here. As I said The Government is going ahead with the project and it will not fail.  Jagdeo does not owe Exxon anything. The People of Guyana do. Do you really think that bringing up the inconsistencies of other countries will prevent the Government from going ahead with their progressive ventures?

Burham had the majority in Parliament and had wanted to build a Hydroelectric power plant in the upper Demerara River close to Mackenzie, but Jagan who wanted it built in the Mahaicony River, opposed him. He allowed the gripers in the PPP at that time to get the better of him. We are left with it.

The PPP/C will not go the same way and allow the PNC gripers to get the better of them.

So where will any gas-to-shore happen and who will fix it? Jagdeo? What? With no brains? That will take a longer time than Guyana can afford! Meanwhile, you will have to continue exporting cheap oil while importing more expensive refined oil! Build your own refinery! NOW! It will serve the lighting requirements as well! When the oil runs out, you could still import the unrefined oil! So the price might or will go up! So what? It will go up for everyone else as well! And everything! OPEC increased the price of oil, the countries that exported to OPEC countries increased the prices of their exports! Only the countries, that didn't have oil, suffered! Wake up, Cinderella, your prince is immoral!

But YOU, repulsive kunt, are an ignorant, toadying ass! And don't you forget it! 'China and India are not in play here'! True! They ignore the climate change hoax, meant for dullards like you, and go full speed ahead to purchase oil wherever, whenever or however, while ignoring the climate changers! Their peoples' needs are paramount! Yours? To be hopefully rewarded for your mindless support for all things PPP!
